Mexico has granted extradition of drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzman to the United States under guarantees that he will not face the death penalty
Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, known as “El Chapo” (shorty) Guzman is a famous drug kingpin who at one point thought to be responsible for a quarter of all drugs entering the US via Mexico. He escaped from prison last year and was re-captured in January shortly after he gave an interview to the Rolling Stone magazine with Hollywood actor Sean Penn at a hideout while he was on the run in October 2015.
“I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world,” he is quoted as telling Rolling Stone magazine in an interview published on 9 January 2016.
